How We Perform an MOT Test?
During your MOT test, our nominated tester performs a thorough inspection and a comprehensive series of checks on the vehicle. This includes examinations of the interior, exterior, under the bonnet, and beneath the vehicle. The MOT tester ensures that the vehicle is roadworthy, safe, and compliant with all emission requirements. Trust Essex Auto Works for a reliable MOT test to keep you safe on the road.
Here is how the test is conducted:
- Our technicians begin with a visual inspection of your vehicle to check for any visual defects.
- They use specialised equipment to inspect your vehicle’s brake and tyre condition, including their tread depth.
- Your vehicle is then driven on a test track to assess the condition and performance of its suspension and handling.
- All electrical systems are checked to ensure they are in adequate working condition.
- Finally, your vehicle is declared passed or failed after comparing the test results to the Ministry of Transport’s guidelines.

What is the MOT Test?
An MOT test is a series of checks and inspections that are carried out on a vehicle to ensure that it is safe and healthy to be on the road. This includes an in-and-out inspection of the vehicle, from its visual condition to its engine, suspension, exhaust and other mechanical and electrical parts. All road vehicles that are 3+ years old are required to pass through MOT testing to ensure they comply with the legal standards. These vehicles include motorbikes, three and four-wheeled vehicles, and hybrid, electric and hydrogen-fuel vehicles.
The MOT test is an annual inspection, mandatory for every vehicle in the UK. If your previous MOT test has expired, you are legally not allowed to bring your vehicle on the road, except for driving to and from your MOT test appointment.
